More spirited debate going on over at John Green's blog about a book's advance vs. its marketing budget. Really fascinating stuff, for anyone even tangentially related to the book biz.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK - coming up later today; just need to make some edits to the fabulous Slow Cooker Pork Pozole I made yesterday (YUM!).

And now for the other thing (if you're reading this over at Facebook, you may want to avert your eyes, though there's nothing graphic here so much as a recommendation for a good girly parts doc in the area):

I really hate going for my annual, because I've been stabbed by one too many speculums, but I really, really, really love my new gyno. It was absolutely the most pain-free pap experience I've ever had, and it was over in a blink. The nurses were great, the scheduling women were great - the only drawback is that there's a bit of a waiting list for new patients (I had to reschedule twice, and each time there was at least an 8-week waiting period in between. Existing patients do not have to wait this long, because there's no intake to deal with).

Anyway, I wanted to recommend her to anyone living/working in Northern Delaware who may be up for a switch:

Beth R Schubert MD
875 AAA Blvd. (right by Del Tech, near the Christiana Borders)
Newark, DE 19713-3624
(302) 224-9400

BONUS: she's had vast experience with women who've had weight loss surgery, and including delivering their babies post-surgery, so I'm seriously psyched.

Well Yay for Beth Schubert! A trustworthy, sympathetic, caring, speculum warming ob-gyn is crucial to a woman's health. (I'll stick with my guy in VT, who doesn't drag peri-menopause into every visit since I turned 40 more than 10 years ago. If I'm like my mother, I won't hit it for another five years or so.)
